FAQ

Do you add anything to the sizes I provide you when making a custom sign cover bag or drape?

For Sign Bags, we typically take your measurements and add a few inches to the width and height, then about one inch to the depth.  Adding these extra inches allows the cover to be installed easily while keeping a tight look on the sign. When we manufacturer a Sign Drape, we typically add about 4” in width and length.  We want the drape to wrap over the edges (sides and bottom) and by allowing the fabric to wrap around the edges it reduces the amount of wind and weather that can get behind the fabric. Wind is just about the biggest enemy to your sign bag or drape and by reducing the amount of wind that can get behind the fabric, you can substantially improve the longevity of your sign cover.

How do I measure an existing sign for a sign drape or bag cover?

Should I get a bag or a drape?

First, when able, always try and submit a picture from the front and the side of the existing sign.  We will then look at the existing sign and make recommendations. We default to the drapes whenever appropriate, as they are less expensive and they can typically be tightened more than the bags, because you tighten left to right as well as down. There are times when a bag might be better suited for the existing sign.  If the existing faces are not installed in the sign, then you may use a bag to better protect the interior of the sign from weather.  Sometimes people will remove the existing faces so that the light can shine through the cover and look more like a traditional backlit sign.  Our sign covers utilize translucent inks and materials allowing you to still utilize your sign’s backlight capabilities.

How long will my sign covers last?

Since 2001, Signcovers.com has been providing quality sign covers, bags, and temporary signage.  In order to ensure the longevity of their sign cover, the customer needs to concentrate on the installation of the cover.  There are two steps to making sure your cover will last. First, is sharp edges. We typically recommend you get some duct tape and simply tape over any sharp edges or corners.  This small task will help immensely in keeping the cover from being ripped by any sharp edges or corners. Step two is to get the cover nice and tight. You don’t want to pull on it till it breaks, but just get it nice and snug all the way around the sign to ensure an attractive and taunt look.  By following these two simple steps your cover will last. We have had customers utilize their sign covers for 3-5 years.

What do you make your sign covers out of?

For our custom sign covers as well as our parking sign slip covers we utilize a 13 oz scrim reinforced PVC banner material.  We print using a Arizona GT350 UV printer. Our parking Slide Covers™ are made from sign grade 1/2” Expanded PVC.
